The writer Nicolò Ammaniti is ready to take a new project that forecasts the writing and directing of the new Italian series Il Miracolo, made by eight episodes, which will be aired in May on Sky Atlantic.
The story will take place during a political crisis period in Italy. The population has to vote for staying in Europe or decide to become independent. The Premier will be interpreted by Guido Caprino, who will keep an important role since the beginning, and Sergio Albelli will play the general of Carabinieri. In fact, they both have to solve the mystery of a small figurine found close to a mob boss murder. The inexplicable fact is that the object cries a red liquid, which, and after some scientific analysis, will be identified as human blood. The premier and the general of the Carabinieri prefer to keep the investigation as confidential so as to avoid the consequential public disorder.
This disturbing story intertwines with the figure of a loathsome and filthy character named Marcello: an atypical priest who frequents prostitutes, steals, and gambles.
The writer has commented on this new project: “I’m not a believer, but I have always been interested in these mystical and religious issues. People go to Lourdes and suddenly recover. I’m fascinated by these phenomena and by the people who have faith, a talent that I do not possess”.
