A strong connection network that will link the Italian and Indian audiovisual sector: this is the strategy developed by Roberto Stabile, advisor for internationalization and Head of Special Projects of the DGCA of the MiC at Cinecittà during his tour in New Delhi. The operation will move through several opportunities for meetings and exchanges between creatives and producers from both countries with the intention of creating new co-productions. Italy, moreover, will be presented as an ideal place to start new Indian productions.
Activities will kick off on Sept. 5, during the Venice Film Festival, with the presence of India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Meenakhashi Lekhprenderà.
A second event will be in October with a review of Italian films in India. Events that, thanks to the support of the Italian Ambassador in Delhi, Enzo De Luca, will take place New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Bangalore. Another important date will be in March next year, when an incoming of Indian audiovisual operators is expected in Rome. From Bollywood stars to leading Indian audiovisual authorities.
The initiative is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding between Farnesina, Accademia del Cinema Italiano Ente David di Donatello and ANICA. For the occasion, local producers will be presented with the state and regional incentives offered by Italy to productions and the funds supporting those who bring Italian films to Indian theaters will be explained to distributors.
The India Special Project is organized by Cinecittà for the DGCA – General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiC, and its activities, will be supported by the Italian Embassy Dehli and the consular network in India, with the sharing of several meetings at FICCI (the Indian Confindustria), the Ministry of Culture and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
