Neapolitan animated film director Alessandro Rak is working on his second feature film, A skeleton Story, based on his own comic book. Rak won the European Film Award for Best Animated Feature Film in 2013 with his debut film, The Art of Happiness.
A Skeleton Story is co-produced by the Italian company Mad Entertainment and the French Ellipsamine and tells the story of the skeleton detective Will Musil and his human assistantBimba, with whom he investigates many mysteries of his city.
Rak is currently working on Cinderella The Cat, another animated film for adults, directed together with Ivan Cappiello, Marino Guarnieri and Dario Sansone and produced by Mad Entertainment and Rai Cinema with the support of MiBACT and in association with Optima Italia. The film is currently in post-production and it will be distributed worldwide by Rai Com.
Like The Art of Happiness, Cinderella The Cat represents an exception in the scenario of the Italian animated films which are usually meant for a young audience. Set in a mysterious port of Naples, the film is a crime adaptation of the classic Cinderella tale, where the girl is driven by the desire for revenge against the people responsible for his father’s death when she was a child.
