Midnight Sun, the acclaimed novel by Norwegian writer Jo Nesbø, will become a film produced by Cattleya and directed by Francesco Carrozzini, director of the documentary film Franca: Chaos and Creation, dedicated to his mother Franca Sozzani. This new project is targeted at international markets.
The novel tells the story of Ulf, a man who flees towards Norway’s wild north to run from his criminal past. A mysterious killer is hunting him and, after hiding in an isolated cabin, Ulf quickly starts to rave and to freak out. About the character of Ulf, Carrozzini has stated he was drawn to his complexity: “he’s inherently a good man forced to do bad things in order to save his own life and his loved ones”.
Carrozzini is a successful photographer (he has worked with many celebrities including Robert De Niro, Angelina Jolie and Jeff Koons) and has directed several music videos for international stars such as Sia, John Legend, Beyoncé and many others. His works have often appeared on the most prestigious magazine covers in the world. As a director, Midnight Sun will be his first feature-length film.
