Strong recovery for box office predicted by Gower Street Analytics for 2022.
According to analyst firm Gower Street Analytics, global box office volumes for the new year are estimated at $33.2 billion. The 2021 year saw a major increase (about 75%) over 2020.
As Gower Street’s forecast indicates, the projected global box office for 2022 shows a significant improvement over 2021. The projection of $33.2 billion would represent a 58% gain over the current year, if 2021 remains on course for a global box office of about $21 billion.
If the projection holds true, it would indicate that the industry will have to wait until 2023 to fully return to pre-pandemic box office levels of over $40 billion.
