The Minister of Cultural Heritage Alberto Bonisoli talked about the polemics on the victory of the film Roma by Alfonso Cuaron in the 75th edition of the Venice International Film Festival.
In response to the many criticizing the Golden Lion assignment to a Netflix film, in first place the operators associations (Anec, Anem, Fice and Aces), who reiterated that “the vision of a film designed for the general public has to take place primarily in movie theaters”, the minister announced that he is going to deal with the problem by defining precise regulatory guidelines, but at the same time he did not hide the difficulties faced. “We are in front of a new world” Minister Bonisoli affirmed, “a world that cannot be handled by imposing decrees, but we have the authority to confront each other and to regulate the evolution”.
The ANICA President Francesco Rutelli reminded that “the matter is global and very important and by the 1st of January we will have to provide a regulation which could fix, amongst other things, investment obligations of the platforms”.
