Rai has closed its 2017 financial statements with a positive turnover. The austerity policy has rewarded the company’s accounts, which ended the year with a profit of €14.3m.
The Board of Directors of the Rai Group, headed by Monica Maggioni, unanimously approved the 2017 financial statements with a profit of €14.3 million. After having reduced the fee to 90 euros a year, with a total loss of 133 million, the accounts were expected to close in balance, but the group managed to finish the year on a positive note. Therefore, their cost optimization strategy has proved to be effective: the General Management made reductions in both staff and operational costs.
According to Rai’s board of directors, this “great result, not at all expected given the decrease in license revenues, to which all the corporate structures have contributed with a strong team performance that will allow Rai to place itself at the starting line of the new TV season with an even stronger and more competitive presence.”
The austerity policy and the reduction in costs should ensure a balanced budget also for 2018. Furthermore, the Rai Group has managed to acquire the TV rights of the Italian Cup for the next three years, beating the competition of Mediaset, which should guarantee good revenues for the company.
